Pause · Notice · Heal
Before you start, two things.
This app is a self-help tool, not therapy, counselling or medical care. It can't assess your situation, and it isn't a substitute for a professional.
It is also not an emergency service. Nobody reads what you write and nothing is sent anywhere. If you're in danger or thinking of harming yourself, contact your local emergency service or a crisis line.
What you type stays in this browser, on this device. We never see it.
Continuing means you accept the Terms and Privacy Policy.
Pause · Notice · Heal
When someone says the thing that lands hard, come here first. Two minutes, then you choose your response.
Freeze. Don't react yet.
Nothing has to be answered in this next minute.
Breath 1 of 3
In for four. Hold for four. Out for six.
What are you feeling?
You don't need the perfect word. Naming it turns the volume down.
Press your feet into the floor. You are safe.
Now name three things you can see in this room.
Choose your response.
Just collecting what happened. You're not fixing anything yet.
Tap one to copy it. You don't owe anyone an explanation after it.
This app is a pause button, not treatment. If the heaviness is staying with you for days, or you're finding it hard to keep going, that's worth telling a real person.
A doctor, counsellor, or a trusted friend is a good first call. If you're in immediate distress, contact your local emergency service — in Botswana, 997 for ambulance or 999 for police. findahelpline.com lists free helplines by country.
Asking for help is one of the bravest things you can do. You do not have to heal deep family wounds by yourself.

These Terms are a legal agreement between you and us about the eBook, the app, and the bonus materials you have bought or been given access to. By buying, downloading, opening or using any part of the bundle, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the materials, and contact us for a refund within the window in section 9.
The materials are published by [YOUR BUSINESS OR PERSONAL NAME] of [YOUR ADDRESS], Botswana ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at hello@pausehalt.com.
Everything in the bundle, which we call the Materials:
"You" means the individual who purchased or was granted access.
Read this section even if you skip the rest.
The Materials are educational self-help resources about family dynamics, boundaries and emotional regulation. We are not providing medical, psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, counselling, legal or financial advice. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or a clinical assessment of you or anyone in your life.
Specifically, you acknowledge and agree that:
Using the Materials does not create a therapist–client, counsellor–client, doctor–patient, coach–client or any other professional relationship between you and us.
They are not a replacement for therapy, counselling, medical treatment, medication, or the advice of a qualified health professional. If you are in treatment, do not stop, start, delay or change any treatment or medication because of anything you read or do here. Speak to your doctor or therapist first.
The Materials are written for a general audience. We have no knowledge of your health, history, safety, relationships or circumstances, and cannot assess whether any exercise, script or suggestion is appropriate or safe for you. You are responsible for deciding what to use and what to leave.
Every person and every family is different. We make no promise about the outcome of using the Materials, including any change in how you feel, how you cope, or how anyone else behaves towards you.
Working with family history, boundaries and triggers can bring up strong feelings and difficult memories. If that happens and it does not settle, stop and speak to a qualified professional.
The boundary scripts and suggested responses are examples only. You know your family and your safety situation; we do not. Use your own judgement about what is safe to say, to whom, and when.
The Materials are not a crisis service, a helpline, or a safety-monitoring tool.
If you are in immediate danger, or you are thinking about harming yourself or someone else, do not use the app. Contact your local emergency services, go to your nearest emergency department, or call a crisis line. In Botswana, dial 997 for ambulance or 999 for police. A directory of free helplines by country is at findahelpline.com.
If you are experiencing abuse, coercion or violence from a family member, please seek help from a domestic violence organisation, a social worker, or the police. Self-help material is not enough for that, and it is not what this bundle is designed for.
You must be 18 or older to buy or use the Materials. They are written for adults and deal with adult subject matter, including family conflict and emotional distress. Do not buy or use them on behalf of a person under 18.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to:
You may not:
Sharing a digital product is copyright infringement. We take it seriously and may revoke your access without refund and pursue legal remedies.
All content in the Materials — text, structure, exercises, methods, scripts, names, logos, design and code — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
© [YEAR] [YOUR BUSINESS OR PERSONAL NAME]. All rights reserved. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership to you. You are buying access to use the Materials, not the Materials themselves.
Prices are shown at checkout in [CURRENCY] and may change at any time before you buy. Payment is handled by [PAYMENT PROCESSOR]. We never see or store your full card details. Your bank may add currency conversion or transaction fees outside our control.
The Materials are delivered digitally, normally within a few minutes of successful payment, by email and/or a download link. Nothing is shipped. If your download has not arrived within 24 hours, check your spam folder, then email hello@pausehalt.com and we will resend it.
Download links may expire for security reasons. Please save your files somewhere safe when you receive them. We will re-issue links where we reasonably can, but we do not guarantee permanent hosting or indefinite access.
We offer a [NUMBER]-day refund. If the bundle is not right for you, email hello@pausehalt.com within [NUMBER] days of purchase with your order number and we will refund you in full. You must stop using the Materials and delete your copies once refunded.
Refunds are returned to the original payment method and may take several business days to appear. We may decline refunds where we reasonably believe a request is fraudulent or the process is being abused, including repeat purchase-and-refund patterns.
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK: you normally have a 14-day right to cancel a purchase of digital content. By buying and downloading the Materials immediately, you request immediate delivery and acknowledge that you lose that cancellation right once download begins. Our voluntary refund policy above still applies in addition to your statutory rights.
The app has no accounts, no login, no server and no cloud sync. Anything you type is stored only in your own browser, on your own device. This means:
We are not responsible for lost entries. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
We aim to keep the app working and available, but provide it on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device or browser, or available forever. We may update, change, suspend or discontinue it or any feature at any time; where we discontinue it we will try to give reasonable notice so you can save anything you want to keep. Because the app runs in your browser, its behaviour depends on your device, operating system, browser and settings, all outside our control.
The Materials may link to third-party websites, helplines, books, tools or services. We include them because we think they may be useful. We do not control them, do not endorse everything they contain, and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, pricing, practices or privacy policies. Your dealings with any third party are between you and them.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Materials are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express, implied or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the information is complete, current, or applicable to your situation, or that using it will produce any particular result.
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Materials, your infringement of our intellectual property, or your infringement of any third party's rights.
We may suspend or terminate your licence and access immediately, without refund, if you materially breach these Terms — in particular by sharing, reselling or redistributing the Materials. You may stop using the Materials at any time; on termination your licence ends and you must delete all copies. Sections 3, 4, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15 and 19 survive termination.
We may update these Terms from time to time — for example if the app changes, or the law changes. The current version is always at pausehalt.com/terms, with the "Last updated" date at the top. Changes apply from the date posted, and if you keep using the Materials after that you accept them. Changes will not apply retroactively to a completed purchase where that would be unfair to you.
Whole agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Materials, replacing any earlier statements, promises or marketing claims.
Severability. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in force and that provision is applied to the maximum extent permitted.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we do not lose it.
Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours to a successor if our business is sold or reorganised, provided your rights are not reduced.
Force majeure. We are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages, hosting failures, power cuts or acts of government.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Botswana, and the courts of Botswana have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute — except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence where its law gives you that right.
Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us at hello@pausehalt.com. Most problems are solved with an email.

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you buy or use Is Your Family Hurting You?, the PauseHalt app, and the bonus materials — and what we do with it. We have written it in plain language on purpose. If anything is unclear, email hello@pausehalt.com and we will explain it.
The short version
What you type into the app never reaches us. Your entries stay in your own browser, on your own device. There is no account, no server, no cloud sync, and no way for us to see them.
We do collect information when you buy — your name, email and order details — because we have to, in order to send you the product. We do not sell your information to anyone, ever. And we do not track you inside the app: no analytics, no advertising pixels, no cookies.
[YOUR BUSINESS OR PERSONAL NAME] of [YOUR ADDRESS], Botswana is the data controller for the information described here. Contact: hello@pausehalt.com.
PauseHalt runs entirely in your browser. When you save a log entry, the app writes it to localStorage — a small storage area belonging to your browser on your device. Entries can include what you write in these fields:
This information is never transmitted anywhere. It is not sent to us, to a server, or to any third party. There is no network request involved in saving it. We have no database of user entries, because there is no database at all. Practically:
Because the entries sit on your device, anyone who can unlock it and open the app can read them. This matters if you share a phone or laptop, or if your safety depends on a family member not seeing what you write. Use a screen lock, and consider what you commit to writing.
If you use "Copy my week as text", the content goes to your device's clipboard and then wherever you paste it. Once pasted into an email, note or message, this policy no longer covers that copy — it is governed by the service you pasted it into.
| Name | To identify your order and address you correctly |
| Email address | To deliver download links and order confirmation, and answer support queries |
| Order details | To fulfil the order, handle refunds and keep tax records |
| Billing country | Tax and currency handling |
| Partial card details | Fraud prevention and refunds, held by our payment provider |
| Checkout technical data | Security and fraud prevention, collected by our payment provider |
We never see or store your full card number, expiry date or security code. Payment is processed by [PAYMENT PROCESSOR], who handle card data under their own security standards and privacy policy.
If you subscribe, or tick the box at checkout, we store your email address and first name with our email provider, [EMAIL PROVIDER], to send you the resource you asked for and occasional emails about our work. The provider records standard engagement data such as whether an email was opened or a link clicked, so we can tell what is useful and stop sending what is not.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. Buying the bundle does not require you to stay on the list, and unsubscribing does not affect your access to what you bought.
pausehalt.com is hosted by [HOSTING PLATFORM], which keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring page) for security and basic traffic counts.
[IF YOU USE ANALYTICS, DESCRIBE IT HERE — OTHERWISE DELETE THIS LINE.]
The app itself sets no cookies and contains no analytics or advertising code.
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, our legal bases are:
A note on sensitive information. What you write in the app is emotionally sensitive and may count as health-related data under some laws. Because it never leaves your device, we do not process it at all, and need no legal basis to do so. This is a deliberate design decision, not an oversight.
Only what is necessary, and only with providers who process it on our behalf: [PAYMENT PROCESSOR] for payments and refunds; [EMAIL PROVIDER] for delivering your files and emails; [HOSTING PLATFORM] for hosting the site and files; and our accountant or the tax authority where required.
We may also disclose information where legally required, or to establish or defend legal claims. If our business is ever sold, information may pass to the new owner, who must continue to protect it under this policy.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
We are based in Botswana. Our providers may store and process information in other countries, including the United States and the European Union, whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where information is transferred out of a region with transfer restrictions, we rely on our providers' safeguards — such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision — to keep it protected.
We use providers who maintain recognised security standards, keep access to our accounts limited and protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication, and keep only what we need. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. The most significant risk to your app entries is physical access to your own device, which is why we recommend a screen lock.
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to our processing, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent where we relied on it, and not be subject to decisions made solely by automated processing (we make none).
To exercise any of these, email hello@pausehalt.com. We will respond within one month, and will not charge you or treat you differently for asking. Remember we cannot action a request about your in-app entries, because we do not hold them — you control those directly on your device.
If you are in Botswana: this policy is written to comply with the Data Protection Act, 2024 (Act No. 18 of 2024). If you believe we have mishandled your information, you may complain to the Information and Data Protection Commission.
If you are in the EU or UK: you may complain to your national data protection authority, or to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
If you are in California: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
The Materials are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email hello@pausehalt.com and we will delete it.
The Materials and our emails link to other websites, helplines and resources. Once you follow a link, this policy no longer applies. Please read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
We may update this policy — for example if we change payment or email providers. The current version is always at pausehalt.com/privacy, with the "Last updated" date at the top. If we make a significant change, we will say so by email or on the page itself.
